Miranda's Big Day

Congratulations to Miranda, one of my latest brides that I've worked with. Tomorrow is your big day, and I hope it's everything that you've been dreaming of!

I was so pleased to get the opportunity towork with Miranda on her paper projects for her wedding. The programs are pictured above, designed to coordinate with her invitations and other collateral materials. These photos show them in their unassembled state; if you're at the wedding tomorrow, you'll probably see them with rounded edges, and a beautiful ribbon at the top to bind them together. We used a gorgeous ivory linen 80# stock for the front and back covers (see black and white photo below) and a matching text weight for the interior pages.
Also, I know I've talked about her invitations before, but here's a refresher if you don't want to go searching for that post (I know I don't). :)

Happy Anniversary!

Three years ago today, I never would've expected that I would be sitting in our pretty little house, tending to a very unhappy teething baby on our third wedding anniversary. Three years ago today, I was having my hair and makeup done, and then hurrying to the church to shimmy into my dress.
Three years ago today, we cut into our beautiful cake and giggled like teenagers. We had just said our vows, and did not know what was to come, for better or for worse, sickness and good health, but we knew that we were in it together. And while the good and the bad have both come, as well as the sickness and the health, we are stronger than ever. The past year in particular has been full of many ups and downs: the early birth of Jude; plenty of health problems, both ours and of our family members'; moving to a new house; and enjoying the delights of a growing baby boy. Each thing comes with its own trials, but with its own distinct blessings as well.
I love you, honey. I knew from the beginning that you and I would be good together. Being with you is God's biggest blessing and I am thankful for every day that we have together.
Me and my mom.

My sister and I.

Awww, look how young and sweet we were!
I will s ay, I wish we were getting on a plane for Hawaii tomorrow, like we did three years ago! And I'm wishing for some wedding cake, too... yum!

Wedding Weekend

When it comes to parties, a wedding is the ultimate in events. I really enjoyed planning ours, but I will say that I was ready for it to all be other with by the time the big day arrived. I know my friend Carrie felt the same way this past weekend, but everything turned out beautifully.
I love the tradition of weddings. There's something about all of the day-of preparations: the bridesmaids getting ready with the bride, and trying to stay away from seeing the groom and his groomsmen; peeking into the reception to see how everything has turned out; wondering how the flower girl will behave (and then laughing when she inevitably does something cute).
I think that's why I really love working with brides on their wedding invitations and collateral materials. It is undeniably a feminine event, a day that most brides have dreamt of their entire lives. I love having a part in that.
I worked with Carrie on her wedding invitations a few months ago. She wanted a simple, classic design that incorporated her love of butterflies. I loved that she used robin's egg blue as her color of choice (also mine at our wedding!).
Her cake was super-yummy. It was a classic white cake with a raspberry filling that was to die for. Delicious.
And do you see those chocolate curls? Um, yeah. The grooms' cake was gone before anyone could blink an eye. Every. Last. Piece.

Speaking of weddings, one of my favorite blogs is Something Old, Something New, authored by invitation designer Kenzie Kate. Not only does she design fabulous invitations, but she has such an eye for bridal style. Even though I've been married nearly three years, I still love to check out her finds.

A Shower for Carrie

The Happy Newlyweds-to-Be

Well, two weeks to the day that we moved into the new house, we have now hosted our first party here. A girlfriend and I hosted a bridal shower for our other girlfriend Carrie, who is getting married this July. In retrospect, I was kinda crazy to try to pull it all together only 2 weeks after moving in, but it was a fun party, and I think she had a great time. For one thing, having an event at your house always makes you get stuff done that needs to be done, non?

"I Do!" -- glitter letters leftover from my wedding hanging on my pretty china cabinet from my sweet Grandmother.
The afternoon spread
Favors galore! Little Martha Stewart boxes with pale blue crystal accents. Pink peonies and roses, too.

Mmmmm, ribbon cake from Raspberries 'n' Creme. Delicious! Tiffany Blue plates and napkins from Caspari, my go-to for all manner of disposable party fabulousness.

Cake detail with fresh flowers.
Beverage display. A little hard to see here, but big bowls of strawberry punch and iced tea with floating lemons.

An Invitation for Miranda

Miller Wedding Invitation

A laid-back, know-what-she-likes kind of girl, Miranda's wedding will be a beautiful mix of elements that make her and Billy happy. For her invitations, she was interested in an outdoorsy feel. Printed on a linen paper, they featured her primary color for the wedding, a gorgeous avocado green.

The set includes an A7 invitation, 4-bar RSVP postcard, inner envelopes, and a printed outer envelope.
